The Ooze Slim Twist has become the go-to weed pen for many vapers. In this review, I’ll be testing the updated version of it. I happen to be familiar with the original, but I honestly never thought much of it, despite its popularity. I wrote it off as outdated tech from the early e-cigarette days.

With that said, the Slim Twist 2.0 is a completely redesigned version of Ooze’s best-selling pen. It features more battery life, a sleeker design, Type-C compatibility, and a wider voltage range. It looks and feels more like a unique device rather than a rebrand. Now let’s put this thing to work!

The Ooze Slim Twist 2.0 looks almost identical to the original at first glance. As soon as you turn it on, it vibrates. The button feels significantly clickier than the original, and the pen now features a micro-USB charging port on the side. Another notable design update is the new and improved voltage dial. It feels rugged and clicks into place, which is oddly satisfying.

The new Twist Slim 2.0 is just a hair taller than the original. It now feels less like a throwaway vape and more like a legit device for oil. It weighs in at just over 23 grams, making it a bit heavier than the original. It’s still just as slim, but now with a bit more streamlined design on top.

The Twist Slim 2.0 has two modes; button and draw-activated mode. Once it’s on, you can hit it without pressing the button. It will turn off after ten minutes of inactivity to preserve battery life. The pen also offers two charging options, a good old 510 USB charger and Type-C charging. It also does pass-thru charging, so you can vape while charging when using the Type-C option.

The interface hasn’t changed much since the original Slim Twist. It operates just like your typical oil vape pen. Five clicks to turn on/off, two clicks for pre-heat mode, and a voltage dial for power adjustment. Once the Slim Twist 2.0 is on, you can just start puffing. You don’t need to hold the power button while puffing, but you can if you want to. Here are some tips for using the device:

At the end of the day, an oil pen is only as good as the quality of your oil. The Ooze Twist Slim Pen 2.0 gets the job done right. Performance-wise, it’s no better or worse than the more expensive oil pens. And now you can puff without buttons—it’s draw-activated! The puff sensor is solid and it never misfired or auto-fired on me.

I love how the device vibrates when you turn it on. That reminds me of the new VRTCL pens. But unlike the VRTCL pens, it only vibrates when it’s turned on, and this feature is not utilized in any other way. I feel like they missed an opportunity, but it could have compromised battery life.

There are no serious performance issues to complain about; everything worked flawlessly with the pens that I’ve tested. Unfortunately, I can’t speak to long-term performance yet. Based on the improved build quality, I would think that the 2.0 provides more longevity than the first one.

I’ve owned a few Ooze pens over the years. Most of them still work. I’ve also heard stories of Ooze pens breaking down within the first few weeks. I would imagine they have stepped up their quality control since then. But if worse comes to worst, they also offer a 5-year warranty upon registration!

The 320 mAh battery was just enough to get through about half a gram of oil. I was able to charge it within about 90 minutes using a Type-C charger. It takes a bit longer using the old style 510 charger. The original Slim Twist didn’t turn off after 10 minutes, so it feels like the new one has more battery life. They’re just more power efficient, which translates into more puff time.

The battery life on the Twist Slim Pen 2.0 is not bad at all. Especially when you consider its form factor. I’m sure Ooze could have upgraded the battery capacity, but instead maintained the slim form factor that people love about these pens. Another plus is that it now does pass-thru charging when using a Type-C charger. So, battery life is less of an issue than before.

The Slim Twist Pen 2.0 is worth the extra five bucks compared to the original. It’s even covered by a 5-year warranty. It would have been nice if they had included the Type-C cable instead of a 510 one. They could have also utilized the haptic feedback a bit more—but that’s all I got for you.

I think Ooze did a nice job updating their best-selling pen. They didn’t have to reinvent the wheel, but they turned a throwaway oil pen into a legit weed pen. Considering its price and availability, I think it will be a hit with both new and experienced cannabis connoisseurs.

All in all, it’s a solid device for the price. It has been dependable and consistent throughout my testing. I even gave one to my cousin to test out her oil carts and now she uses it more than her Stiiizy! I’m more into flower these days, but this pen got me excited about vaping oil carts again!
